my experience with injection

it has been some time since i last blogged. consider myself lazy as what some might say. well, there's a reason for me coming back to blog again. actually have a lot to say about my experience with needles! what a day!
there are only about two more week before my trip to thailand for the oversea community involvement programme. have to take a couple of jabs as preventive measures prior to the trip.
ok, shall start with my experience with the injections. went to yishun polyclinic with my mum for the injections. waited for some time for the immunization as there were a lot of people. bumped into allena who was there to treat her leg. she was badly scalded by the hot water from her cup noodle on saturday, during the service learning trip at sentosa. hope she will have a speedy recovery! remember the last time when my father was scalded by hot chemicals, it took some time for him to fully recover. ok.. the first jab was typhoid( dunno whether i got the spelling right or not). it has been some time since i last took injection in primary six. can't remember whether it was painful or not. i was very nervous, scared and tense. closed my eyes shut when the needle was being poked into my skin. actually, it wasn't as painful as what i had previously thought. i could feel the vaccine being forced into me. the sudden numbness in my thigh, the pain in my leg.. later, the vaccine started flowing to every part of my body and i'm now immuned! i thought it was rather weird to have injection on my thigh. i have never heard of people doing that. ha.the second jab was on my left arm. INFLUENZA! before the needle was being injected into my arm, my heart beat had accelerated. i could feel my heart beat and i know that i was frightened.i was very nervous and scared. took a glance from the corner of my eye and saw the syringe. there was a lot of vaccine! just could not bring myself to think of that amount of liquid being injected into me. the third jab was tetanus. i was brought to another room on the first level for the jab. the nurse who immuned me was very kind. she was very concerned of me, especially after the third jab. i really appreciated that.:) tetanus vaccine was much more than influenza. she warned me that it would be rather painful and i just nodded blanky as my mind was in a state of disarray. frightened! indeed, it was 'rather painful'! could feel my whole body overwhelmed with the vaccine. i had enough! all of a sudden, my vision was blurred. my sense of hearing deteriorated. i was slowly losing conscious. i complained of feeling giddy and the nurses helped me to the bed. guess i had lost conscious for a few minutes. i thought it was a side-effect cos everything just happened immediately after the jabs. i thought i was dying and never to return again. i could not see a single thing, neither could i hear vividly the noises around me! everything was so vague!i was extremely afraid that i could not regain consciousness again. thanks god, i was back to normal again after lying on the bed for some time. luckily, the nurses were all experienced.they knew how to handle situation like mine. after resting for about 20 minutes, i went out to grab some food and a cup of hot milo. it was cold inside, considering the fact that today was a rainy day. went for the blood test at around 2. before my turn, i witnessed one of the blood test which was done on another woman.. she was like ''sissssssssssssssssss......'' and the expression on her face worried me. the room was extremely cold. the cold, coupled with the fear, made me trembled like a mad man. i refused to take the test as i was trembling. was led out of the room by my mum. it was only after much persuasion that i could finally pluck up my courage to enter the room again. the nurse had actually offered me some sweets. my mum was like saying,'' hey the sweets are meant to coax little kids, now they seem to be useful to you!!!'' haha.. i lay on the bed for the test. as usual, my body trembled hard due to the cold and the fear which overwhelmed me. my blood circulation was poor. could feel the pain as the needle was being injected into my arm and when it was inside me. the nurse couldn't draw out much blood from me due to the poor circulation. so it took some time before the needle was being pulled out again! scary right? i think the entire blood test lasted for a hellish five minutes. really an experience!
have a lot to reflect on for today's experience. i may look strong and brave outside, but actually, i am not as brave as what most might think. i'm seriously a small, little boy! i have the gut of a small, little boy. i almost cried when i encountered the needles again and again! not myself alone, even my body gave way due to fear! furthermore, i learn to treasure my life even more. realise that our lives are actually very fragile, as fragile as a glass. at any moment, you can just pass out and never to return to again. it feels really bad to be unconscious..afraid of losing the breath and the heart beat.. arghhh... so, people live each day to the fullest and smile more! :)

hee....haha..

hey... sorry people, i'm simply lazy to update my blog on a regular basis... have been rather busy with exams and non-academic stuffs lately... afterall, jc life is all about stress.. you have to manage your time very well..
shall talk a bit about my mid-year common test.. so glad that i've passed all subjects.. didn't manage to ace any subject though..some papers were hard, while some were okay.. did badly for my chem paper due to poor time management.. i got so annoyed with myself after realising that i could actually do the questions that i had left blank or didn't get correct... managed to pass my gp essay for the first time..so i'm rather satisfied with my performance... haha... overall, the mid-yr common test was okay...
went to orchard with justin and elson on fri, after the econs lecture.. played pool at singapore shopping centre.. haha, my pool skills have improved! played a few games before heading off for dinner.. elson had to leave for dinner with his family... took a train down to orchard station from somerset station... had dinner at the food court in wisma atria.. there were a lot of people.. actually i wanted to order fried kway teow stall, but there were really a lot of people queueing for it.. so i ended up ordering a plate of ''rice with fish fillet''.. the food was okay.. not very delicious and not very unpleasant.. haha.. after that, we went to popular to buy stationaries before going home...
saturday-- woke up in the morning.. after having my breakfast, i went to yishun polyclinic to see the doctor..my leg has been feeling very painful..the pain has been there for more than one week...so i decided to see the doctor.. the doctor told me that i have probably pulled the muscles at the area.. he gave me a cream and some painkillers and told me to go back to him if the pain doesn't go away after three days.. had lunch myself before heading to yishun student service for shg.. the kids gave me some balloons! haha.. we had briefing before starting the session.. the coordinator told us that we should not help the children just because we are aiming awards.. it's not because of the awards that we help the children.. we help them because we want to make a difference to their lives.. this is the satisfaction that we would get from helping them.. seeing the kids grow up into responsible young teenagers, excelling in their studies and eventually come back to help other needy kids.... after shg, i went to bugis to meet up with jar for dinner... taught him some maths before going home.. think i had a really meaningful day.. haha.

back!

hihi... finally, the exams are over! yipee...it has been a long and mentally tedious week... had to put aside fun to make way for studies.. basically, this week is a boring week... went out to eat with jian long after the physics paper...went to toa payoh mac's for food... after that, we walked around for a while before i left to meet up with justin and xiong at amk mrt station.. took a train down to orchard.. along the way, we were all discussing about how tough our mid-yr exams were and the likelihood of failing.. reached orchard at about 1230.. bought our movie tickets at lido and slacked around for some time before our show started..we watched ''superman returns'' it is a nice show.. superman is really charming and cool! think he has a nice physique! haha.. big and broad shoulders and attractive facial features..trust me, it's really worth watching the show! haha..after the movie, we went cine. for pool... played for like only 3 games as i wasn't in the mood for pool.. i was reallly tired at that time..had been so deprived of sleep during the exam period... talking about this, i just recalled the question that i did for gp was, ''modern life is detrimental to family.. do you agree?" haha, if there's this question, ''exams are detrimental to health..do you agree?" i would surely have done it and back with many real-life examples...don't you agree? ok.. shan't talk about work since it's after exam.. went home after the 3 games, supposedly to grab some sleep while dinner is being prepared..in the end, i turned up playing badminton and watching soccer... germany had won!it's really sad to see the disappointment and sorrows reflected on the faces of the argentinians.. i can understand how it feels to be eliminated from a competition after advancing thus far..ok... think i really need to sleep..after all, i am still a normal human being.. hahaha... as for my saturday, i will decide my activities when i wake up tommorrow..

halow..

wah... i'm so slack.. haven't update my blog for so many days... ok.. shall start with last saturday..
went sentosa with the marist badminton clique... supposed to meet at about 130..but everybody were late..reached sentosa at about 3pm..this time, we went to palawan beach..as usual, the beach was very crowded.. there were a lot of people..handsome dudes and bikini babes..we finally settled down at one spot, and left our bags on the sand..the weather was good, considering the fact that it wasn't as hot as the usual days..haha, i went into the water although i did not bring extra clothes to change.. never mind being wet.. as long as we were under the sun for some time after coming out of the water, our wet clothes would be able to get dry..after coming out of the water, we ended up hurling sand at one another until all of us were rather ''sandy''.. borrowed a ball from one of the group of teenagers there.. played a while with the ball even though neither of us knew how to play volleyball.. we played monkey and i ended up being the monkey most of the time.. cos i was damn lousy lah.. haha..took some pictures of ourselves at the shop beside the hawker before going for wash-up.. time flew.. before we knew it, the sun was already setting.. we made our way out of sentosa to have our dinner at harbourfront hawker centre.. later, some of us went to sk's house to gamble..i lost $1.. that was the only coin that i had at that time and i lost everything!!! haha.. just no luck..prior to that, we had gone to the coffeeshop near sk's house to eat roti prata.. i have been eating a lot these few days..food is great! i couldn't stay too late at sk's place as i was going out with my parents early in the morning the next day.. went home with pk and jar at about 1030...
sunday... woke up at about 930 in the morning and prepared before setting off at about 1030... took a few buses before arriving at our destination--changi village bumboat terminal... just found out that a new terminal has been built.. haven't been there for a very long time.. think the last time i went there to take a bumboat to p.ubin was way back in sec.1 or pri. sch.. can't remember.. we took a bumboat to a floating kelong right in the middle of the sea...! it was my first time at a kelong, and a floating one! this time we were on a trip to ''set fishes free''.. think there were a few potential perils at the kelong if one doesn't observe basic safety measures.. for instance, at any time, you cannot have too many people standing at one spot.. if not, the whole structure that is made of wood would just collapse....also.. some paves were very narrow.. if you happen to lose control of yourself.. go luck to you.. you would be swimming in the water with the fishes.. after collecting the fishes, we took the boat all the way out to the deeper water, right in the middle of the sea, where the sea was choppy.. from that spot, i could see changi airport control terminal! aeroplanes were landing at regular intervals... when the aeroplanes flew past us, they were barely 20 storeys above us...wanted to take a picture of a SIA plane..but missed it.. wasted.. released many fishes into the sea.. the fishes were free on their way.. they had gained freedom! went back to changi village for our lunch before heading home in my uncle's truck.. the truck was damn big lah.. think it was cool!
had the most boring time of my holiday from mon to wed.. reserved most of my time for books! had been once a serious mugger when i was in sec. school.. kinda realised that there was no point in studying so hard... should not waste my childhood studying, while bearing in mind not to totally neglect my studies.. realised that life is short.. ought to do something meaningful in this life.. from mon to wed, i had basically studied, eaten, slept and run...on tues, had to help zk. coach his boys at clementi sports hall..
thurs, which was yesterday, i had met up with jar to mug at the esplanade... it was one of the productive days.. had mugged non-stop for 4 hr! really hope time would fly.. and quickly let me get over with the mid-year common test... after mugging, we were off to 'scout' for food..haha, that is the word we usually use... shared a plate of mee goreng because i had to go home for dinner...took a train home..

went jogging at around 1 pm today.. jogged all way to sembawang beach.. there were many people fish at the jetty.. most of the people were catching crabs... stayed at the jetty for quite some time watching the people fish as well as to enjoy the sea breeze.. i was so unlucky lah.. it rained abruptly and i was forced to take a bus back to sembawang mrt! i had planned to jog back, a routine which i always follow.. i was so pissed lah.. along the way, the rain stopped.. stupid! wasted my money! furthermore, the bus was so warm! it was super stuffy inside.. the air-cold did not seem to be functioning.. there was a strong stench in the bus! yee.... reached sembawang interchange in about ten minutes' time.. walked alone for a while in sun plaza sc before returning home for lunch.. slacked around at home for some time before stepping out of home again.. went to sun plaza again to do some work as well as to help my mum run some errands.. after that, headed home for dinner... i think i'm crazy! guess what? i went to run again! put on my track shoes and off i went.. it was 11 pm at night.. there were very few people on the street..never mind.. to me, the night is still young at 11pm..:) i felt much better running at night than in the day.. very cooling.. reached home at about 11 30 and did some work-outs myself.. i don't want to pile on the extra pounds during this holiday! i simply can't resist the temptation of eating food! can't imagine myself eating vocariously when i'm sitting in front of a table full of delicious food! haha... ok..just a fact here, i haven't bathed! hee... need to go shower now... remember to tag on my tagboard! scroll all the way down.. it's at the bottom of this page.. thanks..

tired.fun.coolz.

hey! this time i'm back with a longer post.. i'm now so deprived of sleep! haven't been sleeping much these days.. my face has gone black! haha.. weirdo
friday was the last day of the second week of the school holiday.. there wasn't a need to go back to school for lesson..so i had the day solely for myself..! mugged a little for the upcoming exam as well as to get certain things done..went jogging under the oppressive heat of the 12 o'clock sun. it was damn tiring running under the sun lah.. friday was rather a boring day for me..
woke up rather late on saturday evening.. went downstair to play badminton with my neighbours before heading home for shower.. after dinner, met up with qi ren and xin hao at abt 830 pm at bukit batok mrt.. we took a cab down to east coast park for the cdac night cycling, an event organised solely for the volunteers and their friends.. along the way, it was pouring heavily... qi ren was like saying that we gonna be spending the night at east coast mac's watching the world cup.. never did we expect the weather to be fine at east coast.. reached mac's at about 930..qiren and xin hao went to discuss with the organisers about the route and other issues pertaining to event while i made my way into mac's to watch the live telecast of the match between england and another country(can't remember).. there were so many people watching the live match..it's just so exciting watching with the crowd..guess the whole world is currently running an extremely high fever-- world cup fever.. we set off at about 10 20 after collecting our bikes and making sure that they were in good condition.. cycled along the route in east coast park before exiting to fort road... cycled along the road, passed tanjong rhu, duman high school, mountbatten road and finally came to our first stop-- indoor stadium, in front of stadium oasis.. prior to this, we had cycled along a quiet and deserted road.. not even a single person was in sight expect for the 50 of us.. took a short break at the open space in front of the indoor stadium before cycling along kallang road.. there was this time when we had to cycle beside kallang river.. cool! the next stop was the toilet near the esplanade..took turns to use the toilet before continuing our journey.. cycled past the esplanade to get to esplanade drive, the road where fullerton hotel is situated..proceeded straight to shenton way via fullerton quay and raffles quay.. passed lau pa sat food centre but we weren't allowed to stop for supper cos it was not supper time yet..the next stop was marina south, the place famous for its steamboat buffet.. upon reaching the tunnel just before marina south, it was drizzling.. we stopped for a while in the tunnel and some of us put on our disposable raincoat( or whatever it is called..)after leaving marina south, we headed to lau pa sat for our supper... supper was great...imagine being out in the cold for quite some time with an empty stomach... how nice it would be to tuck yourself into some hot, steamy food.. after filling our stomach, we were off to complete the remaining 50 percent of the journey..cycled back to shenton way before exiting to keppel road... passed brani psa port..psa doesn't sleep at night! it was still operating at 350(such an unearthly hour!) when we passed by.. passed harbourfront shopping centre and hbf hawker centre as we were cycling along telok blangah road..cycled into henderson road followed by alexander road... passed ikea at about 4 30 am.. stopped for a while at the carltex petrol kiosk nearby for toilet break.. i kinda thought i was very great when i saw ikea.. i had actually cycled to ikea, a place i deem far away from my house! passed alexander hospital before turning into tanglin road.. tanglin road is very quiet and deserted at night, especially the stretch just after alexander road.. realised that crescent girls' school is in tanglin road.. wah... so good lah.. it's in close proximity to orchard road.. cool!after school can go jalan jalan.. exited tanglin road and came into orchard road.. orchard road at night is totally different from what it is in the day... there are very, very few people walking at night..cars travelling along orchard road were practically whizzing past us.. it was so unlike daytime when there is a long jam stretching all the way down to tanglin... exited into river valley road and got to victoria street.. the final stretch of road we cycled along was geylang.. the night rain did not seem to abate.. it began to rain even heavier.. as a result, we had to stop at the cdac headquarter in paya leba, slightly ahead of the planned end-point.. we were just a few km from our end-point--east coast park! seemed so near yet so far.. haha.. at least we had completed 95percent or more of the journey! we were so lucky that it hadn't rain heavily in the earlier part of our journey..
realised that i was the youngest person who participated in the night cycling... my group had about 6 people.. some nice, friendly people i should say..
slept till about 5 pm the next day... woke up and watched the aviva open finals for a while .. spent the rest of the day slacking at home, a place u would find comfortable especially after a long, tiring, sleepless night..
met up with the vj clique on mon evening at cine.. had dinner together and talked for quite some time before proceeding off to buy present for jia ling.. shan't write about what we bought.. wishes u a happy birthday in advance just in case you read this..=) hahaha.. jion chun and i realised something.. after being separated for so many months, people in the clique no longer converse about the same common topic.. at times, i was clueless about what the rest of them were talking about, all thanks to the different schools that each of us is in now.... i slowly turning into some night cat! took a bus to the airport at about 11 pm to meet up with leonard..waited a while at the airport for leonard.. was at the arrival gate.. noticed this family..when the mum stepped out from the gate, her children who were earlier waiting anxiously ran forward to hug her.. her husband then gave her a kiss.. i like seeing family unite, especially when one member of the family has been away to a destination far far away... la la la..we walked around t1, searching for the best spot to mug.. it was finally settled at some 24-hr food court, the place where we were driven away by the supervisor the last time we were there.. this time, marrybrown fast food restaurant wasn't opened..and there was no supervisor to drive us away! we bought food from mac's to eat at the food court.. nobody gave us a damn..it was already so late at night.. the foodcourt stall owners have no reason to drive us away.. buried ourselves in books for the next four hours or more until my body gave way.. it was chilling cold in the airport at night.. nevertheless, i like the serene atmosphere of the airport at night... i was trembling like hell due to cold... regretted not bringing jacket there..we had our breakfast at the food court in t1... i helped myself to a bowl of fishball noodle with soup.. soup is great especially when you're cold.. slacked for a while more at the viewing gallery before going home..hey! aeroplanes look so nice la! i haven't taken an aeroplane before! and air stewardesses are cool! can't imagine my wife being an air stewardess.. but it would be sad if she were to always away from home.. took the long way home instead of the usual way as i wanted to sleep in the bus... reached home at about 10 plus... and helped myself to a second round of breakfast again.. slept for about 4 hr or less and rushed down to clementi sports hall.. i was there to help zhi kang coach five boys... think the boys have improved by leap and bound after going through so many training... after that, took a train down to choa chu kang to meet up with zhi kang, ming yuan and a few other pjc people for dinner... took a train to khatib to help my mum collect some medicine from our family doctor.. later, it was home sweet home..
